Bodybuilder and Fitness Coach, Shawn Johnson

Resiliency is a major theme of my chat with Shawn Johnson of episode 304 of The Weight Room. He has overcome a lot of obstacles and challenges whether that be in his early days or growing up and getting into the gym.

Shawn shares his story getting into the gym after sports and how the gym gave him a home. He also talks about how his personality began to change once he got into the gym. He became more introverted and started to feel like he just didn't want to hangout the same way anymore.

He also gets into his injury and some of his mental battles during his recovery. This is a very relatable feeling to many gym goers and atheltes when they can no longer put the same effort and energy into what they love. He shares how he got through that time and what he learned through it.

We then spend time talking about his personal training career that led him now into online coaching. We discuss how much the fitness industry changed due to COVID and how everything moved online including coaching. We share our thoughts on how online coaching has opened the door for more people to make a living wage getting into the world of fitness. After, we chat about the client side of things, client-coach relationships, communication, and growing a fitness coaching business.

Make sure you listen to the full episode of The Weight Room with Shawn Johnson anywhere you find podcasts!
