Our second fire fighter on The Weight Room, Aaron Quinn joins for episode 60. Aaron Quinn has a lot of thoughts, ideas, and perspectives that challenge some of the traditional and mainstream fire service policies and procedures. Talking to him makes you think about the importance of thinking outside the box, but also understanding why change should be founded on reason and not just a want for change.
On our episode, he talks about his journey getting into the fire service, his background, and his experience training people for real life and death situations. The idea of being in a life and death situation and know that you didn't train or train properly is a scary one. It is crazy that there aren't higher standards for health and fitness for people that we send into those kinds of scenarios.
On his second appearance of The Weight Room on episode 84, Aaron Quinn joins to talk about a breathing technique called Wim Hof named after it's creator. The power of the breath is immense. It is the only system in our body that works without us controlling it that we can also take control of. We can change our mental state, our internal systems, and crate a different internal environment with how we choose to breath. He shares his knowledge and experience with Wim Hof and how it has impacted his life and those that he has trained. For more info on Wim Hof, what it is, and how it can help you check out episode 84 with Aaron Quinn.
